Want to know our tips on saving money with your vendors?
My mother recently told me she planned her entire wedding under $1000 back in the day and my jaw dropped - if only. But we have got some clever tips to help you keep that budget under control. We find many couples getting caught up in hidden costs/fees, paying too much and basically heading down, what we like to call the Triple S's - Spiralling Spending Spree. This is a friendly reminder to our couples that this event, isn't about flashing how much money you've got and spent on the big day, its about bringing family and friends together. So don't get caught up on the Wedding rabbit hole and we'll be by your side helping you stay on track - You've got this!
Tips on saving money with specific vendors
Photography: Booking a wedding photographer and videographer through the same company can be a great way to save $$$ as some vendors offer discounted rates on their photo/video combo packages. Alternatively, if you find your preferred photographer first, speak to them and see if they have a videographer buddy that they can recommend who have worked together. Be strategic with the timings: don’t book your photographer for the full day, instead consider booking them for 6-8 hours. You want them capturing important moments pre/during the ceremony and first few hours of the reception during things like the first dance, cake cutting etc. You don;t need a photographer capturing sweaty dancers breaking it down on the DF. Tip: have disposable cameras on the tables for your guests to capture the end of your night or if you book something like a photobooth, you’ll get some great shots.
Catering Ditch that alternative drop menu. You’ve been to a wedding where you’re seated and your either served Chicken or Beef at a wedding. Great way to save some money is through your catering. Get some quotes from vendors that offer feasting share-platters down the middle of the table or if you want to mix things up maybe a food truck or food stations like paellas. Another great way to save some cash is serving your wedding cake for dessert instead of having dessert then cake. The guests won't touch the cake because they’re full from dinner and dessert and you’ll end up chucking things in the bin.
Florist Save on florals: You don’t need to spend a bomb on florals to make your wedding look beautiful. We’ve seen it time and time again where couples spend thousands of dollars on floral arrangements. Consider the areas you want your photos to showcase your floral arrangements, like ceremony arbour, bridal table and most importantly, your bouquet. Think minimalist look the rest. Opt for lots of stunning greenery runners on your tables and in your bouquet to add colour and texture to your arrangements without breaking the bank. Also ask your florist what is in season. This could save you a bomb!! Tip: Another affordable alternative are candles, they look equally dreamy especially in photos. Scatter tealights or mix matched sized candles in amongst simple floral arrangements for an elegant and romantic feel.
Decor Tap into your inner child and let's do some arts and crafts. A great way to save money on your wedding budget is by creating table decorations yourself, yes you heard me, DIY!! Get on Pinterst and get some DIY inspo, create some handmade name place cards or table runners or simple decor. Check if your caterer are providing menu’s, because thats an easy simple task you can do yourself if they charge extra but remember, keep it simple. Don’t over-do the decor or your tables will be clustered and overwhelming. Tips: Check out Etsy and Canva for cool ready-made templates to print.
